Looking to go further with your ride? Our pedal-assist technology kicks in automatically once you start pedaling, so you can explore the city without breaking a sweat.
These ebikes feature a motor on the rear of your bike, brakes on the front along with bells on each handlebar, and a consistent, single-speed so there's no need to adjust the gearing.
Just look for the ⚡️symbol in your app to indicate an ebike is available at a station near you. You'll also be able to see the battery level of ebikes in the app so you can best plan your ride. When you’re finished, you can return your ebike to any open dock.
In instances where there are no classic bikes at a station, members can now rent one of our next-gen silver ebikes in “classic mode.” This means that you can rent this ebike for no extra charge, but there will be little to no e-assist for the ride.
To make this choice, you’ll see a screen after scanning the QR code that allows you to choose between riding with full assist or riding with low assist. You can set your Pedal Assist Preference in your app by going to Profile > Bike pedal assist preference. You may also see a checkbox in the app asking if you would like to save your pedal assist preference on future rides. If unlocking with a bike key instead of the app, you can set your preference by logging into your account on a web browser.
This option is not available for our original model ebikes.
Parking
There is no parking fee for ebikes locked and parked at Divvy docking stations or e-stations. However, if an ebike is parked at a public bike rack, $2.60 will be charged for casual and day pass riders, $1.30 for annual members, and $1.10 for Divvy for Everyone members. (Note: Divvy members that lock their ebike within 130 feet of a full Divvy station will not be charged the out-of-station fee)
Bikes should only be parked at Divvy docking stations, e-stations, or public bike racks. Fees may be assessed for improper parking (such as locking to trees or blocking accessibility ramps).
Note: If docking your ebike at a station, do not also use the cable lock to lock the ebike to the dock, as this may result in a parking fee. Even if the station appears full, this action will cause the system to register an open dock. Only use the cable lock at an e-station or approved object listed above.
Pausing
Need to pause your ebike ride? Members can make a stop during their ride by tapping “Pause” in the app. Just make sure to park your ebike out of the way while your ride is paused. When you’re ready to resume your ride, tap “Resume” in your app to keep riding. Make sure not to use the cable-lock when pausing your ride, as this will end the ride.
Ebike rides can be paused for up to 15 minutes. If the ride is not resumed within the 15-minute duration, the ride will idle-end, and out-of-station parking fees will be charged if applicable. Keep in mind that pausing does not end your ride, so you will continue to be charged the standard per minute rate while your ride is paused.
